Robert J. Busick

Robert Busick, a standout athlete from Weir High School’s Class of 2000, is being honored for his exceptional achievements in both wrestling and football. He became Weir’s first state wrestling champion in 21 years, earning a senior-year title at 215 lbs. with a 29-5 record, following two consecutive runner-up finishes. 

 

On the football field, Robert was a key player on the 1998 State Championship team, serving as both an offensive guard and defensive tackle. He was named Second Team All-State, selected as an OVAC All-Star, and received the Dapper Dan Award. His photo and accolades are featured on the Weir High Wall of Fame.

 

Beyond high school, Robert served his community as a West Virginia State Trooper and continued competing at a national level, winning the Heavyweight Division in submission wrestling and placing second overall at the Police and Fire Games.

 

Mr. Busick is now retired and living in Florida with his wife and son. His career reflects excellence in athletics, public service, and community leadership.
