Candidates who missed the deadline to file a Certificate of Announcement may file to become an official write-in candidate by submitting a Write-In Candidate Certificate of Announcement with the City Clerk, by September 17, 2024.
Only official write-in candidates will have their votes tallied. Persons who have their name written on a ballot are not eligible to win any election.

Important Dates to Remember
- August 13, 2024 will be the last day to withdraw as a candidate.
- Drawing for positions on the ballot will be conducted on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 9:00 AM, in the Council Chambers of the Weirton Municipal Building, 200 Municipal Plaza, Weirton, WV 26062.
- Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
