FIREFIGHTER/EMT – City of Weirton, West Virginia
The City of Weirton Fire Civil Service Commission will be conducting a Probationary Firefighter Exam.
The deadline to submit an application along with Doctor’s Physical Examination is Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 4:00 p.m.
The Physical Agility Exam will be given on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Millsop Community Center, 3420 Main Street, Weirton, WV 26062. Registration begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.; Physical Agility Exam begins at 9:00 a.m.
The Written Exam will be given on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Registration begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. at the Millsop Community Center’s Weirton Room, 3420 Main Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
Minimum starting salary is $18.58 per hour, including health, and other supplemental benefits which are available in detail at the City Clerk’s Office. The Fire Civil Service Commission will award preference points to veterans and/or candidates with prior fire experience within the Weirton Fire Department Volunteer Division and meets the requirements of the Firemen’s Civil Service Commission Code. Documentation is required.
Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 35 at the time of application, and have a high school diploma or GED. Residency requirements do not apply. More detailed information and exceptions can be found under W.Va. Code §8-15-17.
Candidates can pick up an application at the City Clerk’s office starting Monday, April 24, 2023, Weirton Municipal Building, 200 Municipal Plaza, Weirton, WV 26062, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding any holidays). The completed application, including the second page of the Physical Agility Examination Requirements form included in the packet signed by a medical professional, needs to be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by the deadline of 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
