Why does Starvaggi Pool close before Labor Day?: Starvaggi Memorial Pool & Park is owned and operated by the City of Weirton Board of Parks & Recreation Commission, but the part-time employees that staff Starvaggi Pool & Park are predominately school teachers and high school/college students. For this reason, it's impossible to adequately staff the pool & park once schools, colleges and universities reopen following summer break.
