The 2025 Leadership Ohio Valley Class visited the City of Weirton on February 19th for their government session. Class members began their session with Planning and Development Director Mark Miller where they learned about the City’s role in development. After the development discussion, the members attended Municipal Court and heard from Judge Dean Makricostas, City Attorney Vince Gurrera, Court Clerk Renee Starr, and City of Weirton Code Officials.
For the last segment of
the session, Mayor Dean Harris, City Manager Michael Adams, and Police Chief Charlie Kush spoke about the City of Weirton’s government structure, daily operations, and the Weirton Police Department. The session concluded with members of the class participating in a mock council meeting.
