October is Agent Orange Awareness Month. During the Vietnam War, the United Stated launch Operation Ranch Hand, which employed chemical weapons in enormous quantities designed to defoliate areas used by the enemy to deprive them of places to hide. More than 11,000,000 gallons of this toxic chemical was deployed. The ecological and health issues created by this deadly toxin have deeply impacted those exposed and future generations. This month serves as an opportunity to
honor those impacted by Agent Orange.
Mayor Harold E. Miller and City Administration presented several local veterans who suffer from the effects of Agent Orange exposure with a proclamation and gift in appreciation for their sacrifices they paid and continue to pay to ensure our freedom. Thank you to others in our community who also suffer with the effects of Agent Orange exposure. Pictured are Mayor Harold E. Miller, Veteran Harold Wolverton, Veteran John McCracken, Veteran George E. Ash, Sr., Veteran Dan Gonzales, Veteran and Councilman Timothy C. Connell, and City Manager Mike Adams.
