In 2015, the West Virigina Legislature established the second Saturday of September as West Virginia Heroes Day to honor the bravery and sacrifice of our state’s first
responders. Mayor Harris showed appreciation to the Weirton Fire Department, Weirton Police Department, Hancock County Ambulance Service, and Brooke County Emergency Management Agency for West Virginia Heroes Day by presenting them with proclamations.
Thank you to all first responders for facing danger daily to keep those in your community safe. If you see a first responder, do not forget to thank them for their selfness and tireless efforts.
