A Negative Injury Determination was issued from the International Trade Commission (ITC) on the illegal dumping trade case jointly filed by Cleveland-Cliffs and the United Steelworker’s Union (USW).  The ITC's determination triggered the idling of the Cleveland-Cliffs Weirton tin mill.
Mayor Harold Miller, Weirton City Council, and Weirton City Administration were devastated to hear that the plant would be idling and even more so, that the lives of 900 steelworkers with families would be deeply impacted. In response to this shocking development, a letter was drafted and signed at the March 11 Regular Council Meeting by City officials, requesting President Biden to right the wrong by overturning the ITC’s ruling.
The City of Weirton stands with the steelworkers and their families. Together we will fight to save the American steel industry. We encourage you to share what this decision means to you by sharing your comments to this post and on your own social media. Let your voices be heard.
