Weirton City Council

November 28, 2000

Special Session



A Special Session of the Common Council of the City of Weirton, Hancock and Brooke Counties was held on November 28, 2000 in Council's Chamber of the Municipal Building.



Councilmembers in attendance: Charlie Mitchell, D.J. Minella, John Moore, George Kondik, David Cline and Christopher Fletcher.



City officials in attendance: Ric Rekowski, Brae Bryant, A. D. Mastrantoni, Chief Cole, Melissa Farley, Rod Rosnick, Valerie Means, Chief Fletcher, Dan Mastrantoni and Gene DelGreco.



Mayor Dean M. Harris led the Pledge of Allegiance.



CITIZENS REMARKS

A motion was made by Councilmember Kondik, second by Councilmember Fletcher to allow for citizens remarks. This passed 6-0, so ordered. There were no remarks.



AMEND THE AGENDA & EXECUTIVE SESSION

Harris asked council for motions to amend the agenda to allow for an executive session and to possibly add another item to the agenda. Motions were made by Councilmember Minella, second by Councilmember Kondik to amend the agenda. This passed 6-0, so ordered. A motion was made by Councilmember Fletcher, second by Councilmember Moore to convene into an executive session to discuss personnel matters. This passed 6-0, so ordered.



Council reconvened at 5:33 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

Appointment of City Manager

Harris brought forth the nomination of Joseph J. Cicchirillo for the position of City Manager. A motion was made by Councilmember Minella, second by Councilmember Kondik to appoint Joseph J. Cicchirillo as City Manager. A roll call vote was taken with a yes is in favor of the appointment, a no is opposed: Councilmember Cline Yes

Councilmember Fletcher Yes

Councilmember Mitchell Yes

Councilmember Minella Yes

Councilmember Moore Yes

Councilmember Kondik Yes

The appointment passed by a 6-0 vote, so ordered. Harris introduced Mr. Cicchirillo.

Harris said there are no other agenda items.

ADJOURNMENT

With no further business before this, the November 28, 2000 Special Session of the Common Council of the City of Weirton, the meeting was adjourned at 5:36 p.m.
