RESOLUTION

TO AUTHORIZE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR THE RECOVERY ACT JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH HACOCK COUNTY COMMISSION

            WHEREAS, the Weirton Police Department  wants to apply for funding under the Recovery Act Justice Assistance Grant through the U.S. Department of Justice; and.

WHEREAS, the City of Weirton is considered a disparate jurisdiction and required to enter into an agreement with the Hancock County Commission that indicates the allocation of the grant and the fiscal agent; and,

WHEREAS, said grant funding to the Weirton Police Department shall be Seventeen Thousand Six Hundred Eighty Two Dollars ($17,682.00), which shall be utilized for the purchase of U.S. Department of Justice approved items.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEIRTON, BROOKE AND HANCOCK COUNTIES, WEST VIRGINIA, that the City Manager be authorized to make application for Recovery ACT Justice Assistance Grant and enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Hancock County Commission on behalf of the Weirton Police Department.
