Redevelopment Authority

The West Virginia State Law Requirements for a Redevelopment Authority Board of Commissioners is as follows: minimum of five members, maximum of seven, appointed by the Mayor and approved by city council. Appointed initially for 1 to 5 year staggered terms, reappointment thereafter for 5 year terms. Only requirement is to be a resident of the area in which the Redevelopment Authority operates. Members shall received no compensation, but are entitled to necessary expenses incurred in the discharge of their duties (i.e. travel). A majority of the members constitutes a quorum. The commissioners may adopt their own by-laws, and elect their own chairman and vice-chairman from among their members.

The Weirton Redevelopment Authority meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month at the Weirton City Building.
