Fire Department

The City of Weirton Fire Department is a combination fire department.  The paid staff is comprised of 21 full time career civil service firefighters all of which are supression members, a full time Fire Chief, and an Administrative Assistant.  All 21 career staff and the Fire Chief are certified EMT-Basics.  The volunteer division has 18 suppression members.  The City of Weirton Fire Department operates four (4) stations; two (2) stations are manned full time by the career paid staff and two (2) are staffed by the volunteer division members.

The City of Weirton Fire Department operates 4 Engines, 2 Quints, 2 Squads, 1 Support/Command Squad, 1 Chief SUV, 1 25’ Boston Whaler Fire Boat, 1 PWC, and 1 ATV. The career staff mans 1 Engine Company and 1 Quint Company on a full time basis. The City of Weirton Fire Department provides fire suppression, medical first responder, rescue, water rescue, dive rescue and recovery, fire prevention, public education, and plans review services. The City of Weirton Fire Department is an EMT Basic Rapid Response Agency with 7 Class A vehicles.

The City of Weirton Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau conducts fire safety training annually for the school systems, pre-schools, day cares, and civic organizations.  The Fire Prevention Program utilizes both station tours and site visits and has approximately 1,500 student contacts per year in the elementary and pre-school settings.  The City of Weirton Fire Department also operates a Fire Safety Trailer for the Fire Safety Program.  The City of Weirton Fire Department also conducts public education in American Heart CPR (monthly), fire extinguisher usage, and fire safety education.
