On Saturday, June 17, 2023, the Weirton Ecumenical Council comprised of the 5 churches that sit along Weir Avenue came together to present the “Let Freedom Ring” Juneteenth Worship Service to celebrate Juneteenth. In honor of the momentous occasion, the City presented a proclamation recognizing the Weirton Ecumenical Council Juneteenth Committee for diligently planning the service in honor and celebration of our heritage. To memorialize the presentation of the proclamation, a plaque with the proclamation and the Weirton Daily Times Article on the service was created and will be hung at the Weirton Municipal Building
