Time: 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Location: Top of West Virginia, 3539 Main Street, Weirton, WV (parking and entrance behind building)
Instructor: Savannah Schroll Guz Studios
Painting Subject: Blossoming cherry tree branches, which have arched themselves to form a heart.
I’ll be starting the paint 'n' sip with a tiny bit of art appreciation and historical context by talking about 19th century Japonisme (the craze for all things Japanese that swept France in the late 1860s) and its influence on Postimpressionist painters, like Van Gogh. We'll also take a look at some of Van Gogh's super-gnarly tree limbs so we can see how he handled them before we dive into our own cherry tree branches. The intro will be short and sweet so we can get to makin'!
What to bring: Yourself, painting clothes, and any beverage or snack of your choice (BYOB).
We'll provide: The instruction, the canvas, a tabletop easel, the paint, brushes, paper-plate palettes, and paper towels
