Reflections on 2018: Slipline project
An extensive sliplining project through the city of Weirton was completed this year by The Thrasher Group, winning the company the American Council of Engineering Companies Engineering Excellence Award for their excelsior performance.
According to Water Board member Sam Stoneking, there are 2 water mains that leave the city of Weirton, and this sliplining project ensures that both are completely secure from the possibility of leakage.
This entire project was also completed without causing any rate increases to customers, according to Utilities Director Butch Mastrantoni. This was made possible by the board’s careful account management which leveraged former bonds funds to pay for the sliplining.
